    Event Description:
    The Salem Education Foundation is hosting their second annual Adult Spelling Bee Fundraiser at 6:00 pm on May 9th at Stella's Wine Bar and Restaurant. They are looking for both individual spellers and teams of three.  

    Individuals will participate in a standard spelling competition to start off the evening. The registration fee for individual spellers is $50. After the individuals spell, teams of three will compete. The registration fee for teams is $400. Teams can be sponsored by a business or the members can recruit friends and family to sponsor them, all facilitated on their website.

    The team round will not be a standard spelling bee. They encourage teams to wear costumes and be ready to both spell and laugh. During the team round, the audience will be able to buy helps or hindrances to apply to a team. Helps will include a brief neck massage or heartfelt encouragement from a local celebrity, or buying the next letter of the word. Hindrances will include Stingers, Polar Plunges, and any other annoying thing you can think of! The Stinger is a signature cocktail sent to the team of your choice and the polar plunge is a bucket of ice water that spellers must put their hands in as they spell. 

    The Best Team of Spellers will go home with a fuzzy bee trophie and a chance to develop a grant opportunity for Salem Public School teachers given in their name for the next year. Other team prizes include:  Best Fundraisers, Best Team Costumes, and Best Team Name.

    Not a speller?  No problem!  Be a spectator or even sponsor a word for $10! They’ll include that word in the spelling list and let you stump the spellers.  Message us for details.  info@salemeducationfoundation.org

     Admission to the event is $20 per person. There will be an auction, raffles, food and a cash bar.
