    Position: Marketing and Communications Associate
    Report to: Kia Fernandes, Director of Marketing and Communications
    Schedule: 40-hour-a-week, full-time, Monday-Friday, evenings and weekends as required
    Location: 220 Highland Avenue, Salem MA
    Salary: $25 – $28 per hour

    The Salem Pantry is seeking a Marketing Associate to support the day-to-day execution of marketing, communications, and development initiatives. This role plays a key part in creating and sharing content, managing contact lists, tracking analytics, and assisting with donor communications and fundraising campaigns to ensure consistent and engaging messaging across all channels.

    Responsibilities:
    Content Creation & Execution

    • Capture photos, videos, and other media content of day-to-day programs, events etc. to support marketing and communications efforts.
    • Draft and schedule social media posts following the Director’s strategy.
    • Prepare routine updates to the website, including hours, announcements, events, and blog posts.
    • Assist with drafting and designing newsletters, flyers, brochures, and other marketing materials.
    • Work with the Director to format and send email campaigns.
    • Coordinate with vendors for printing and production of marketing materials.
    Contact List Management
    • Manage and maintain all email and contact lists, including segmenting audiences, updating subscriber information, and ensuring data accuracy across platforms
    • Organize and maintain media contact lists and community outreach lists to support timely and effective communications.
    Analytics & Reporting
    • Pull and monitor data from social media, website, and email platforms to track engagement and performance.
    • Create regular reports against key performance indicators (KPIs) for campaigns, content, and outreach initiatives.
    Development Support
    • Assist with donor acknowledgment processes, ensuring timely and accurate recognition of donations.
    • Support the preparation and distribution of donor appeals, newsletters, and other fundraising communications.
    • Help coordinate communications and materials for special campaigns and events.
    • Collaborate closely with the Director of Development to maintain accurate donor records and support relationship-building efforts.
    Organizational Engagement
    • Attend regular all team meetings and actively contribute to program planning and review discussions
    • Collaborate with staff across departments to support organizational goals and initiatives
    • Assist with additional tasks or organizational needs when requested
    Work Environment
    The employee will primarily work in an office setting, with occasional work in The Market or pantry as needed. While most duties are performed at a desk, the role may require lifting items up to 40 pounds and moving around the pantry during those times. Work may also include exposure to indoor and outdoor conditions during events or pantry activities.

    Qualifications:
    We are seeking an individual who is passionate about The Salem Pantry’s mission and committed to advancing equitable access to healthy food through all aspects of their work, from daily interactions to program operations and community engagement.

    Knowledge and Previous Experience
    • 1-3 years of experience in marketing, communications or related field, preferably in a nonprofit setting.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail.
    • Experience creating and curating content for social media platforms.
    • Familiarity with email marketing platforms (e.g., Mailchimp, Constant Contact).
    • Basic knowledge of SEO, website content management, and digital marketing strategies.
    • Experience using analytics tools for social media, email campaigns, or website performance.
    • Spanish or Portuguese language skills a plus but not required
