CatVideoFest 2026

Let’s address the obvious question first. Why would anyone pay to watch cat videos on the big screen when they can spend hours watching them for free online? The answer is surprisingly simple. Because CatVideoFest isn’t really about the videos themselves; it’s about sharing them. Part compilation film, part celebration of feline absurdity, and part fundraiser for cats in need, CatVideoFest transforms the solitary act of doom-scrolling into a communal cinema experience where an audience full of strangers collectively laughs, gasps and inevitably lets out a chorus of “awws.” They are categorised into different sections – Action, Comedy, etc – to give an idea of what’s next. I can’t help myself, I am still on edge when I see a cat being chased by another, and then the sheer relief when you see them get over the fence in time! And then I snort-laugh watching the looks on their face! Cats really just have a whole amazing way of defying gravity, pulling faces and escaping by a whisker. Naturally, no animals are harmed – this whole idea doesn’t come from a place of chucking an animal around for the likes. To double down on that, money from your ticket goes to support a local pet charity. You get to laugh and to feel good about where your money goes. I did wonder if I could sit absorbed by cat videos for a movie-length period of time (as if I don’t doomscroll cat videos at home for hours). At just over an hour long (70 minutes even), it doesn’t feel like it’s too long or too much – it’s the perfect amount of time to take some time out and be entertained. There are any number of reasons to go and see CatVideoFest – cat videos are snort laughingly fun and entertaining, we all need time out from our lives for something silly, and our entertainment helps raise money to support animals in need.
