Saturday Nov 23, 2019SalemRecycles is partnering with HELPSY to host the City of Salem’s ninth Clothing and Household Textiles Recycling Drive on Saturday, November 23rd from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Riley Plaza. What began as a program to educate Salem residents that their used household textiles and clothing can be reused or repurposed has, over recent years, become a greatly anticipated community event. Fittingly celebrated the Saturday before Thanksgiving, the textile recycling drive has grown each year with residents arriving by car, truck, scooter, Zipcar, bicycle, and even on foot. Clean and dry textiles of all kinds and in various states of “usability” are welcome, such as new clothes and shoes, old stained t-shirts, sweaters needing buttons, belts in need of buckles, towels, curtains, bedspreads, purses, jackets, hats and gloves, backpacks, socks, jeans, etc. After you drop them off, your items will be restored and re-sold, upcycled, repurposed, or recycled. For a complete list of all acceptable pieces for donation, please click here to see our Facebook event. Additional information on environmentally friendly programs and recycling initiatives can be found by following “SalemRecycles” on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, www.greensalem.com, and www.helpsy.co . Please call 978-619-5672 or e-mail mguglielmi@salem.com if you are interested in volunteering for this event or if you have any questions. ... read moreCategories: CommunitySaturday Dec 28, 2019... read moreCategories: Community, Clubs/OrganizationsThursday Nov 21, 2019... read moreCategories: Arts & Culture, CommunityThursday Nov 28, 2019... read moreCategories: Arts & Culture, CommunityThursday Dec 5, 2019... read moreCategories: Arts & Culture, CommunityThursday Dec 12, 2019... read moreCategories: Arts & Culture, CommunityThursday Dec 19, 2019... read moreCategories: Arts & Culture, CommunityThursday Dec 26, 2019... read moreCategories: Arts & Culture, CommunityThursday Jan 2, 2020... read moreCategories: Arts & Culture, CommunityThursday Jan 9, 2020... read moreCategories: Arts & Culture, CommunityThursday Jan 16, 2020... read moreCategories: Arts & Culture, CommunityThursday Nov 21, 2019In appreciation of our valued patients enjoy an evening of: Free Chair Massage, Product/Service Giveaways, Free Spinal Screenings, Raffles and Discounts. Home and business owners can save as much as 21% on average on solar photovoltaic (PV) pricing compared to the statewide average. The City of Salem has partnered with the Towns of Swampscott and Nahant to launch a joint campaign (“Solarize North Shore”) to promote and facilitate the implementation of solar PV panels (A.K.A. solar panels), solar hot water systems, and air source heat pumps (A.K.A. mini-splits) throughout the three communities. The collective goal is to raise awareness about the various benefits that they offer and increase their adoption. “A great feature of the Solarize North Shore campaign is its additional grant support to promote these opportunities to low- and moderate-income homeowners,” says Salem Mayor Kim Driscoll. “It’s important that all members of our community have equal access to these technologies. Together, we can create a cleaner and greener city for all.” After an extensive vetting and interview process, the Solarize North Shore team has chosen the following installers, each offering a different technology: Solar Panels: Boston Solar Air Source Heat Pumps: New England Ductless Solar Hot Water: New England Solar Hot Water (NESHW) In order to address a wide range of questions regarding the program itself, the green technologies, the installers, as well as the rebates and incentives, multiple public information events will be held to give home and business owners a chance to meet the team and get their questions answered. ... read moreCategories: Arts & Culture, CommunitySunday Dec 1, 2019... read moreCategories: Arts & Culture, CommunityThursday Dec 5, 2019... read moreCategories: Arts & Culture, CommunitySunday Nov 24, 2019... read moreCategories: Arts & Culture, CommunityThursday Nov 21, 2019... read moreCategories: Arts & Culture, CommunityFriday Nov 22, 2019... read moreCategories: Arts & Culture, CommunitySaturday Nov 23, 2019... read moreCategories: Arts & Culture, CommunitySaturday Dec 7, 2019... read moreCategories: Arts & Culture, CommunitySaturday Nov 30, 2019... read moreCategories: Festivals & Celebrations, Arts & Culture, Community, Salem Chamber Of Commerce, HolidayWednesday Dec 11, 2019The Granite Back Country Alliance is an organization dedicated to the restoration and creation of new Back Country Ski trails in New Hampshire.
