    Saturday Aug 3, 2019 - Sunday Aug 4, 2019
The 2019 Salem Maritime Festival will be on Saturday, August 3 from 10am to 4pm, with music continuing until 8:30pm. On Sunday, August 4, the Festival starts up again at 11am and continues until 4:00pm. Hosted by the National Park Service, the Festival takes place on the historic wharves and grounds of Salem Maritime National Historic Site on Derby Street. “This year, we are proud to celebrate two significant features of Salem’s national park—the return of our beloved tall ship, Friendship of Salem and the 200th anniversary of the Custom House. Festival-goers will also not want to miss this year’s two visiting vessels, the Tall Ship of Delaware, Kalmar Nyckel and the reconstructed Viking fishing vessel, Polaris,” stated Susan Russo, Chief of Visitor Experience and Community Engagement. The 2019 Salem Maritime Festival poster, created by Montserrat College of Art student Rebecca Jones, features a colorful and eye-catching design highlighting Friendship of Salem. This is the second year that Salem Maritime collaborated on the poster with Beverly’s Montserrat students under the leadership of their graphic design professor, Jesse Kahn. This year’s 2–day festival offers an exciting array of activities, demonstrations, and exhibitors including international musicians & dancers, local sea shantey singers, maritime trades and craft demonstrations, free harbor tours and so much more!
